We are seeking a qualified Field Services Technologist to be based in our operations in Victoria, BC. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager in Vancouver with a dotted line to the Vancouver Island Area Manager, this new role will provide internal/external technical support for the Vancouver Island material supply operations. While primarily QC-centric , the successful candidate will benefit from exposure to many aspects of the aggregates and concrete business including production, sales, and logistics.
What you will get to do :
Troubleshoot, investigate and resolve customer concerns with respect to product specifications and performance.
Perform technical analysis on concrete product and raw material to ensure quality standards are met.
Recommend changes for product design or manufacturing/logistical processes to maintain performance.
Provide technical support, expertise and consultation to plant supervisors and external customers.
Actively manage concrete mix designs and liaise with Vancouver technical group as required.
Participate in daily/weekly production meetings as required.
Essential Experience and Skills :
Civil, Materials, and/or other relevant engineering degree
Experience in materials testing and/or ready-mix concrete
Strong technical background in concrete and aggregate materials
Understanding of construction and engineering standard practices
Strong desire to work in a construction/industrial environment
Prior manufacturing/industrial experience
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative
Ability to adapt to change and respond well under pressure
Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong desire to move into progressively more responsible roles and relocate if require
Valid Class 5 BC drivers license
Work Environment
Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
