LEHIGH HANSON is seeking a Superintendent/Foreman/Supervisor for our Oriskany Falls facility located in New York.

Lehigh Hanson is seeking a Construction Supervisor. This position will be responsible for overseeing medium to large and high end production bituminous paving projects.

Wage and supplemental benefits will be in accordance with the NYS Prevailing Wage Schedule for the County the work is being performed in.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Oversee crew and public safety for each project for which he/she is supervising

  • Ensure quality of work that meets Lehigh Hanson and customer specifications

  • Train new employees in safe, productive and efficient work processes

  • Calculate material requirements for projects and related costs

  • Report production, labor, and equipment use on a daily basis.

  • Assist with/manage job bidding process for upcoming projects.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Assign and motivate workers for the various project assignments. Have continuous communication with each.

  • Manage the jobs’ resources (labor and equipment) for efficient utilization.

  • Coordinate and maximize company equipment use to minimize the use of outside rentals.

  • Plan and Coordinate project schedules with the project’s owners (State, Counties, Towns, Villages, etc…). Maintain good working relationships with each.

  • Plan and Coordinate paving schedules with the Hanson HMA Plants. Maintain on-going communication with sales and production staff as needed.

  • Work with the Environmental and Safety Departments to ensure all laws and regulations are always met. Help to establish and maintain safe working environments for all. Monitor and recommend changes as necessary.

  • Work with the construction accounting department to monitor job costs and modify methods and resources when necessary to stay within budgets.

  • Train and develop workers to maximize their potential. Recognize and be mindful for position succession plans…. (Operators, foremen, superintendents…)

  • Respond daily to many emails and phone calls for a wide variety of issues. Continuous multi-tasking.

  • Respond to Human Resource issues as they arise and seek advice as needed.

  • Communicate almost daily with the Construction Manager to discuss progress, schedules, and other various issues.

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Public Works Projects.

  • High school diploma or GED required with additional training/education in the construction field preferred

  • Must have good communication and management skills

  • Must possess ability to deal directly with owners, engineers and inspectors
