The Shift Supervisor role is based in Leeds, AL and reports directly to the Senior Kiln Supervisor.

This position is responsible for providing supervision and technical guidance to hourly work crews. Will work on a rotating shift basis and provide relief for other supervisors.

In addition to supervising our plant workforce, this position works with our customers and sales staff to meet business needs. This position is also responsible for coordinating and directing many of the day-to-day activities at the plant operation while maintaining the company's high standards.

What you’ll get to do

• Ensure the efficient operation of plant equipment

• Supervise the workforce to maximize the capabilities of the various areas on a rotating shift basis

• Maximize production of a quality product within company and plant specifications, goals, and objectives

• Supervise personnel and equipment to minimize plant costs

• Administration of and compliance with the collective bargaining agreement

• Manage personnel and processes to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations

• Coordinate shift activities with other supervisors to ensure continuity of operations

Essential Experience and Skills

• 2-5 years of experience in cement manufacturing or related industry

• Broad understanding of cement manufacturing process, equipment, and process control systems

• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of kiln burning, finish grinding processes and shipping

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures, as well as equipment performance

• Ability to direct personnel to correct problems

• Effective supervisory, interpersonal, and communication skills

• Proficient PC skills, with experience in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Kronos

• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement

• Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and guidelines

Preferred Experience and Skills

• College degree preferred

• Experience with SAP

Work Environment

• Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
