Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Ready Mix Drivers for its Lathrop, CA plant.

As a Ready Mix Driver you will deliver concrete to job sites following safety and operational guidelines; check concrete for quality and size according to ticket; and maintain courteous customer relations.

Through May 1, 2022, Lehigh Hanson Services, LLC, will administer payroll and benefits for this business unit’s employees even though Martin Marietta is the business unit owner. On or about May 1, 2022, the business unit employees will move from Lehigh Hanson Services, LLC’s administration to Martin Marietta’s payroll and benefit program.

  1. Work Availability

  2. Must be available to work six days a week (Monday-Saturday) and occasionally on Sunday. Must be able to drive a maximum of twelve hours per day and work up to 14 hours per day as regulated by the Department of Transportation.

  3. Must comply with the Company’s absence and attendance policy and procedures

  4. Safety.

  5. Maintain vehicle in a clean, organized, and safe fashion

  6. Observe all safety precautions and rules specified by federal, state, and Company regulations

  7. Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor or contractor on job site

  8. Report accident or incident immediately

  9. Complete accident report on same day

  10. Attend required safety meetings • Wear proper work attire (hard hat, vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.)

  11. Pre-trip activities

  12. Perform walk around safety inspection of assigned vehicle (i.e. check oil, water, fuel, lights, tires, etc.)

  13. Conduct airbrake check test

  14. Fill out vehicle log book

  15. Input employee identification number into status head to go in service

  16. Loading procedure

  17. Report to batch plant at assigned time

  18. Spot truck under plant to receive material

  19. Verify load size on delivery ticket to determine correct pressure setting on booster axle for proper load distribution

  20. Quality control

  21. Visually inspect mix for proper materials

  22. Verify load size to ticket

  23. Visually inspect slump with the aide of slump meter and adjust slump according to ticket

  24. Visually inspect ticket to match the driver and the truck

  25. Check ticket for special admixtures

  26. Highway driving

  27. Drive in compliance with traffic laws and extend courtesy to other vehicles on the road

  28. Deliver concrete as directed by dispatch through knowledge of expeditious routes

  29. Deliver product to customer

  30. Deliver product in a timely manner

  31. Utilize vehicle status head signaling system

  32. Job site operations

  33. Evaluate safest and best way to enter the job site

  34. Ask customer where material is needed and, if necessary, make suggestions for alternative safe dumping locations

  35. Make decision regarding dump location based on safety considerations

  36. Hang chutes as required using proper lifting methods

  37. Unload concrete at the job site without damage to equipment, framework, utilities, etc.

  38. Communicate with customer per job requirements, have customer sign ticket

  39. Perform walk around inspection of vehicle after unloading

  40. Complete wash down procedure at job site (according to customer specifications)

  41. Collect money if job is a C.O.D.

  42. Work with customer to achieve maximum customer service

  43. Take customer order changes in the field

  44. Return

  45. At plant hit status head button and properly rinse out drum as needed

  46. Return to designated plant according to ticket or dispatch instructions

  47. End of shift duties

  48. Wash out drum, fuel truck, and clean vehicle

  49. Conduct p.m. walk around inspection

  50. Write up any vehicle maintenance problems in truck log book

  51. Report problems or potential problems to ensure vehicle is operable the next day

  52. If it is a safety related problem contact the shop over the radio to alert them to the problem

  53. Throughout the day

  54. Process required paperwork, i.e. time card, driver daily reports, and trip tickets

  55. Maintain appearance and condition of assigned vehicles

  56. Lubricate vehicle or assist mechanics in vehicle repair


  • Must have a Valid CDL Class A or Class B with Tanker Endorsement

  • Will Train to operate Ready Mix Equipment
