The Role and the Company

Lehigh Hanson is North America’s leading supplier of cement, aggregates, ready mix concrete, and asphalt. Reporting to the VP/GM, the Director of Sales will be responsible for managing the sales, customer service and technical support of aggregates products in the Southwest Region. This position will be located in Irving, TX.

What you’ll get to do

  • Develop and execute sales and marketing plans, programs, budgets, and strategies in alignment with overall business objectives.

  • Provide technical assistance to customers.

  • Compile market intelligence and identify potential projects.

  • Review and recommend product pricing, market placement and new product launches.

  • Work closely with operations and logistics teams to optimize product balance and inventories across rail-serviced quarries, terminals and customer sites.

  • Analyze market trends and segment data to maximize market opportunities.

  • Maintain involvement in industry associations as a company representative

  • Deliver effective presentations to various stakeholders.

  • Develop and lead marketing activities for Southwest Region.

  • Develop and implement action plans to achieve the objectives of the Strategic Plan; attain targets, optimize operational, sales, and financial results.

  • Develop and coordinate strategies for market and product expansion.

  • Manage budget and department costs.

  • Strengthen and grow existing customer relationships.

  • Lead the region in execution of Customer Excellence program.

  • Promote safe work habits and provide safe working conditions.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Marketing, Construction, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years related experience, with progressive experience in management roles.

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial aspects of a business unit including P&L statements, budgets, and impact of volume, price and cost.

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution in a sales department.

  • Experience in sales in construction, aggregates or cement line of business.

  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.

  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong presentation, negotiation and networking skills.

  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

  • Some overnight travel required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software and SAP.

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
