The Cement Plant Manager role is based in Edmonton, Alberta, and reports directly to the Vice President – Cement Operations.

What You’ll Get to Do

  • Manage all aspects of cement operations and maintenance, in line with Company targets and plans, to ensure timely production and distribution of products within quality standards, high uniformity, and optimized production costs

  • Proactively manage Health & Safety initiatives to continuously improve the company’s performance and promote the highest level of safety in the operations

  • Develop the annual Operating Plan and Capex Plan for the plant; oversee the execution of Capital Projects on plant level

  • Drive the Plant Operating Model (POM) and Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) on plant level to further improve plant performance

  • Promote all aspects of enhanced Sustainability in cement production – assist with the transformation to carbon neutral cement by supporting the planning and executing the Edmonton CCUS project

  • Negotiate collective agreements and manage labor relations

  • Drive Digital initiatives on plant level in line with Group’s Digital developments and offerings

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance

  • Promote relationships with the local community, industry organizations and regulatory bodies

  • Ensure close cooperation with Group Support Functions.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering preferred

  • Prior experience with increasingly responsible positions in cement production; minimum of 8 years experience required

  • Knowledge of all aspects of cement manufacturing process and experience with cement production technology

  • Advanced interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and think strategically

  • Demonstrated competency in the areas of financial management, performance management, problem solving and decision making

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, and networking skills

  • Strong negotiation and influencing ability.

Work Environment

Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty condition
