Lehigh Hanson Northeast Region is seeking a qualified Business Development Manager for its Allentown, PA location.

The position of Business Development Manager will be responsible for supporting and leading a wide variety of strategic initiatives for Lehigh Hanson’s Northeast Region in collaboration with the Region’s senior management and Lehigh Hanson’s Corporate Strategy & Development Department. The initiatives will include defining business development plans, building key relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals and maintaining extensive knowledge of market conditions.

The candidate must have the drive and initiative to help identify, analyze, and pursue new strategic opportunities and be able to build positive working relationships with managers and employees throughout the Company as well as management and ownership of potential business partners. The candidate must have excellent relationship, project management and analytical skills and a strong working knowledge of financial statements, competitive research, and strategic planning.

Business Development includes, but is not limited to: potential acquisition targets, greenfield/brownfield aggregate reserves, distribution network opportunities, joint ventures, swaps, divestitures, and other capital projects in line with the company’s strategic goals.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Manage relationships with managers, customers, competitors, suppliers, industry associations, governmental agencies and other sources regarding potential growth opportunities for the business

  • Identify, assess, prioritize, and pursue attractive opportunities, including organic growth projects as well as joint ventures, swaps, divestitures, mergers, and acquisitions.

  • Create and efficiently manage strategic projects to drive revenue growth, value enhancement, and cost optimization.

  • Provide insightful and trusted counsel to the Region President and senior management as well as Lehigh Hanson’s Vice President of Strategy and Development on a wide variety of strategic initiatives.

  • Transform information and analyses into actionable decision frameworks.

  • Prepare and present investment, divestiture, and acquisition proposals that include a thorough evaluation of market opportunities, business benefits and drawbacks, projected financial returns, and key risks.

  • Develop and maintain market intelligence that impacts future trends in the business including participate in ongoing analyses of the economic, demographic, and competitive landscapes for current and potential markets and opportunities.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement business transactions from due diligence through completion

  • Inform and coordinate all activity with NAM Corporate Vice president of Strategy and Development to assure consistency of work product and good coordination with NAM BD activities

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in the building materials industry or a relevant function (e.g., transportation, logistics, investment banking, strategic consulting, and/or operations management). Prior business development experience strongly preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to develop positive, collaborative working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated drive, initiative, adaptability, creativity and ability to think & act strategically.

  • Strong ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Strong analytical skills, financial talents, and attention to detail.

  • Project management skills; formal training preferred

  • Proven track record for speed of execution with accuracy

  • Solid understanding of business valuation, financial and operating statements

  • Experience working as a collaborative business partner with line management.

Work Environment

Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
